'The Maneki Neko (Becoming Cat) is a Japaneses symbol for success, prosperity, good health and happiness. We hope that Maneki Neko will bring this to our organisation and the cats and kittens we re-home.'

Maneki Neko Cat Rescue was established in 2012 by Samantha McKernan and Carl Anthony - after many years of private cat rescue and foster caring. Since then, Maneki Neko has re-homed over 2,800 cats. The focus of this organisation is on working collaboratively with community, business and local councils to improve the health and welfare of cats and kittens in Victoria, Australia.

Neko HQ

Neko HQ was opened in 2017 to give a street address to Maneki Neko Cat Rescue. It includes 00 square metre Cat Lounge and a shop full of cat products for all ages.

The Cat Lounge is home to 15-20 of the most social rescue cats. There are no cages, just lounge chairs, sofas, cat toys and books - and space for the cats to sleep, play and visit. All the cats in the Cat Lounge are available for adoption. There are no permanent residents. This means that every time you visit the Lounge you get to meet some different fur balls.

Neko HQ is not a cafe but you are welcome to bring your own food and/or drinks. It is only a short walk to three great cafes -
